The following is a list of suggested items to bring on your GHNP adventure. Please keep in mind that luggage on the domestic flights is restricted to 15kg per person.


1) Lightweight, casual clothing appropriate for hiking such as light pants, shorts and shirts. Bring a couple of extra T-shirts as hiking can be a sweaty affair!
2) Knee-high sports socks.
3) Bring your own boots, we recommend lightweight, comfortable hiking or walking shoes that are waterproof.
4) Bathing suits & sunscreen
5) Insect repellent
6) Light raincoat when visiting during the rainy season
7) Camera
8) Basic medical kit (aspiring, band-aids, Imodium, antiseptic cream, anti-histamine cream etc.)
9) Refillable water bottle(non-plastic)
10) Binoculars (or you may borrow them from our team)

GHNP’s location & climate is typical of the western Himalaya’s front ranges. It has four distinct seasons: Spring (April to June); Rainy/Summer (July to September); Autumn (October to November) and Winter (December to March).Precipitation is moderate for most of the year and abundant during the monsoon, from mid-June to mid-September.


In recent years, maximum annual rainfall has been 1,298 mm. During winter, some snow is common at lower elevations, whilst higher elevations can receive snowfall of over two meters.The ambient temperature can vary from -10ºC in January to 40ºC in June.

No immunizations, shots, inoculations or vaccinations are required to enter GHNP. However, it would be wise to check with your personal physician for individual recommendations.

From Delhi: Approximately 480km, 10 to 12 hrs journey
Route :
Delhi > Ambala > Chandigarh > Roopnagar > Kiratpur > Bilaspur > Mandi > Pandoh > Aut
Delhi to Chandigarh by National Highway 1, then to Aut in Mandi district by NH 21. The towns of Chandigarh and Swarghtat can be targeted to stay for staging the trip. Road journey in the mountain terrain of Himachal provides good views of Gobindsagar Lake near Bilaspur, followed by lush and wide Bahl Valley. The drive continues through the outskirts of Mandi which leads into the Pandoh gorge. After Pandoh comes the small town of Aut from where a link road goes across the bridge over Beas River into the Banjar valley, where the Park is located.

From Dharamsala: Approximately 170km, 6-8 hrs journey
Route : Dharamsala > Palampur > Baijnath > Joginder Nagar > Mandi > Pandoh > Aut

From Shimla: Approximately 185km, 6-8hrs journey
Route : Shimla > Darlaghat > Brahamphukkar > Jukala > Ghaggas > Sundernagar > Mandi > Aut

From Manali: Approximately 70km, 2- 3hrs journey
Route : Manali > Naggar > Kullu > Aut
